There may be 350 distros, but in reality, only a handful are widely
used,
and the common features among them far outweigh their differences.
Haiku

Not sure about that, Haiku isn't like Linux at all.
Haiku, if it really is like BeOS, is not slower than
Windows like Linux, it is a lot faster!

Linux is slower than Windows? What?!?

What part is it you don not understand?
Linux programs running a lot slower under Linux than
windows programs running under windows, what is
so difficult about that?
It takes a lot more time to boot linux than win XP.
Opening a folder with 1500 photo's takes forever
in al linux programs I tried and is visible under
Windows ACDSEE in a flash.
All programs take more time to open in linux as
under windows, why isn't it allowed to say so,
it is a very simple fact?

IMO it is a waste of effort more then anything, to release
350 + versions of Linux, it's kind of a joke really.

Oh, yes, what a terrible waste it is to have five billion people on
the planet when a few hundred would do nicely. All that variety is
such wasted effort. "You can have any color car you want, as long as
it's black."

Well that is hardly an argument.

You really should try to learn about things before you pontificate on
them. Your ignorance is the real joke here.

Well I wonder why you don't tell me where I am wrong
in anything I said.
I am using Ubuntu now ( on another machine ) and I like
it, most things are OK now but my pan newsreader is missing
a lot options which where present in previous pan releases.
But these earlier version aren't supported in my ubuntu
version, in the mean time there is even a newer ubuntu
version, not to mention the Xbuntu kbuntu and god knows
what more. I think it is a real problem why some
linux users are behaving like some religious fanatics
who simply don't accept any critics about there religion.
We are on the same side you know, we both want a better linux.
