Woohoo. Problem found. Try and fix it.

I doubt it's "problem found" since that's only a small part of the boot
sequence.

You *doubt*. Interesting.

In any case, I have no idea how to go about fixing it, and the point of
this discussion is that this problem exists in the first place.

Woohoo. You have no idea. Well maybe you could find some help somewhere.

The users shouldn't be the ones fixing these problems, the developers
should be.

What? Open Source software needs to supply full support?

*IF* you want a full support linux try the paid for versions of Red Hat or
Novell. They do exist. And guess what, they're cheaper than windows. And
guess what else. Try and get "full support" for windows. You'll just get
send to usergroups and the knowledgebase.

Alternatively, try and *learn* something about the system yourself.

Maybe the lesson here would have been for your initial post to read..

"Hello all,

I'm running Linux distro "x" and it boots up a lot slower than windows does.
Would this be correct? If not, how would I go about troubleshooting

Take it easy on me. I'm a noob

TIA "

Instead of getting all pious and claiming "Linux is slower than windows".
