Is there a google desktop like application for linux? i really like
being able to type a quick word or two in a easily accessible search
field and finding my file lickety split. it seems like linux should be
able to do this even easier than on windows. thanks.
locate filename
thanks, bu that requires me to remember the name of the file. the way
i use g.desktop is usually to type in a snippet of a phrase that i
know the file contains. i don't have to know what directory the file
is in or any of the switches for grep or anything like that. it
usually locates my file before i'm done typing the search term.
