Ubuntu or Kubuntu are the best out there IMHO, but I don't think there's
anything crucially wrong with Linspire if you're insisting on using it
as a first distro - AS LONG as you take the default root access into
consideration and take steps to secure your system.
However, as a newbie, you'll probably find Ubuntu much better in this
respect, as it is easy to use as a desktop system and, while Ubuntu's
modus operandi is a little different from Windows, you'll find that
maintaining a secure system is much easier.
The video you watched blew you away specifically *because* it was
server-oriented. No operating system is ever easy to use as a server,
not even Windows (trust me, I have experience in this).
There was a server distribution that I once saw that really did blow me
away, because the entire server administration (mail, WWW, FTP,
everything) was carried out from a single GUI, unfortunately the name
escapes me. Can anyone help me out here?
