Wireless network and Firefox

Hi all,
I've recently installed SuSE Linux 10.1 on my Sony VAIO laptop, and
I'm having some problems with my wireless network. I have an Intel PRO
Wireless 3945abg card, and I installed the ipw3945d daemon. After
installing it, everything seemed to work fine: It connected to my
wireless network, and I am now able to browse the internet--but only
using Konqueror. I typically use Firefox as my default browser, and
when I plug in an ethernet cable, Firefox works absolutely fine. As
soon as I'm connected wirelessly, however, it runs *extremely* slow
(took about 3 minutes to load www.google.com), and typically times out
on just about every page. I'm also unable to connect irssi (a console-
based irc client).
What's strange is that it's only those two pieces of software that are
having difficulties--everything else works fine. I'm posting this
message from Konqueror, I'm able to connect to IRC using Konversation,
I'm able to fetch IRC feeds using Akregator, and even the automatic
updates work fine. Using each of these pieces of software, I'm not
even experiencing any slower-than-usual functioning.
When I execute "wget www.google.com", it completes in under a second,
and it retrieves the page just fine. When I execute "ping www.google.com",
it similarly works perfectly fine. Iwconfig and ipconfig indicate that
everything is perfectly in order as well; this laptop was assigned
exactly the ip address it should have been assigned, and it's
connected to "ACTIONTEC" (my wireless network) with a 48mbs bitrate.
I'm running SuSE Linux 10.1 from the KDE desktop, with Mozilla Firefox
1.5.0_3. Again, when I'm connected to the same network with an
ethernet cable, everything works fine, but when I connect to the
network wirelessly, Firefox dies. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
