Hi all,
I've recently installed SuSE Linux 10.1 on my Sony VAIO laptop, and
I'm having some problems with my wireless network. I have an Intel PRO
Wireless 3945abg card, and I installed the ipw3945d daemon. After
installing it, everything seemed to work fine: It connected to my
wireless network, and I am now able to browse the internet--but only
using Konqueror. I typically use Firefox as my default browser, and
when I plug in an ethernet cable, Firefox works absolutely fine. As
soon as I'm connected wirelessly, however, it runs *extremely* slow
(took about 3 minutes to load www.google.com), and typically times out
on just about every page. I'm also unable to connect irssi (a console-
based irc client).
It sounds a bit strange that two programs don't work, do run iptraf and see if you get a package sent over the wlan directly when you try to load a page in FF or if it takes time before the package is sent.
check also your output from ifconfig, you should only have lo and wlan when you use the wlan.
Check also that you haven't enabled a proxy in FF that you can't access when using wlan.
I can say I don't have this kind of troubles on my notebook, works fine both over wlan and eth with all applications that I use.
