Re: Wireless network and Firefox

It sounds a bit strange that two programs don't work, do run iptraf and see if
you get a package sent over the wlan directly when you try to load a page in
FF or if it takes time before the package is sent.

It's definitely doing something strange. Firefox seems to be
requesting 1.0.0.0:80, which is what keeps timing out. That suggests
to me that, as you mentioned, ff is trying to connect to a proxy but
failing to resolve it. It is, however, connecting through eth1, which
is my wireless. Konqueror connects to 72.14.203.*:80 (google) over
eth1, rather than 1.0.0.0:80.

Check also that you haven't enabled a proxy in FF that you can't access when
using wlan.

I've had FF configured to use the system settings; however, I've also
tried setting it to autodetect the proxy settings from the network and
to connect directly (which is how Konqueror is configured). None has
worked. I do not typically connect to proxy servers, nor have I set up
anything to connect to one.

check also your output from ifconfig, you should only have lo and wlan when
you use the wlan.

Here is my full ifconfig printout when I'm connect to my wlan:

AmiDaniel:/home/amidaniel # ifconfig

This all looks fine to me--only the one wlan connection (eth1) is
active.

I can say I don't have this kind of troubles on my notebook, works fine both
over wlan and eth with all applications that I use.

Must be nice :). I hope I can get there eventually too. Thanks.
