You will learn more about Linux if you use slackware. You will have
windows type hand holding if you use openSuse, or certainly more so that
you have with Slack.

The installs of most modern linux distributions will see the windows
partition and add an option to boot to windows in the installed
bootloader.

Make sure you have good backups.
