With my beloved SuSe getting some age on it, and support not being what I

I tried both Kubuntu and SimplyMepis.
With other words, another distribution, not OS, it's the same OS.
If you want to try other OS:es look for
QNX, *BSD, HaikuOS, AROS, FreeDOS and so on.
A friend told me to try PCLinuxOS before I install ed SLED on my machine
that had had OpenSuSe 10.2 on it. I like it, a lot. Tools are great, it
loads fast, the install is dead easy (DiskDrake is the best thing ever
invented to manage a HD - IMHO). My only item on the "wish list" is that
it contained "Kinternet." I am on a "mom and pop co-op" with manual
connect on DSL. "Kinternet" handles that wonderfully well and I wonder why
more distros do not use it. The only place I have seen it is in SuSe.
All distributions has a set of their own tools for setting up the system with,
those tools are quite distribution dependent and needs more work to be ported
to each others systems.
If you want to use something from OpenSuSe/NovellLinux then you need to do the
work yourself.
Myself I like when I can use vi to edit my settings, preferentially a plain
text without all those xml-mess.
