Anyone who says Linux is harder to use than Windows certainly haven'tAs mentioned in a previous thread, Dell is considering preinstalling some

version of Linux on new machines. You could wait for this and tell your
mother to buy a new laptop. If you have to reinstall Windows XP (sp2) every
few months that is rediculous and unacceptable. I hope you mean a "repair"
install and not a full format and reinstall.
There are too many things that stay SNAFUed if you just "repair" things with an over-install.
And given how much junk soaks into Windows systems and how
many nasties infest it almost as soon as it sees a network
connection, wiping and starting again with a fresh install
each time might be the better option?
Or better still, a fresh install of anything else but Windows. ;)
