Re: Newbie Distro?

I am a newbie. Ubuntu I can work with very well. However, the later
edition does not work on my hardware. Can some one offer me a (serious
and unbiased) opinion about a second choice? It needs to be graphical,
hardware friendly (an older Dell), easy to use like Ubuntu was. Thanks.

They all have GUI capability (well, nearly all) and I don't think any
opinion is going to be unbiased. These days, live-CD capability makes
it quick and easy to do a test-drive. You find out whether it can
deal with your hardware and you find out whether you like how it works.
Get thee to DistroWatch.com. Download what appeals (or order a CD for
almost free). Knoppix and the several distributions built on its
foundation are known for great hardware support, but only Pete can
say what's best for Pete.
