I don't think it would be worth your effort (except for the learning
experience) to do a cluster. Number one reason is: in order for most
software to make much use of parallel processing (either mulitple
processors, multiple cores, or multiple computers) the code for the
app must be parallelized. In the case of a cluster, there is
significant overhead involved in the process communication.
Hmm, probably won't show any increase in speed since the software would
need to take advantage of it. Might be really good for folding@home or that
other ET thing, what is it now, some sort of alian search where you donate
your spare cyles...
