I need some advice. I am setting up a wireless network between two

You might try Belkin (Prism chip) of which most later Linux distros
have native support for or D-Link (Atheros chip) which will work with
the madwifi module package. This is for the 802.11b,g protocols,
11Mbps -54 Mbps.

These cards usually go for $45 - $60 USD.

Also, a good directional antenna in around the 8 - 12 Db range would
help the situation. This would be in the $50 -$140 USD range depending
on the strength. D-Link has a nice assortment of these antennas but
you can google that & I'm sure there are other brands around that will
do quite nicely. Also, check out e-bay. There's a lot of interesting
stuff for sale there.
