What's wrong with just using the network (TCP/IP) ports? Why the extra

This sounds exciting. Wonder why a simple minded person like me, can not
think of a solution so simple. Must be old age. This is exactly like the

No. That would be a straight through cable. You need a crossover cable.



My son in law makes these RJ45 cables in his line of work. Has pushed
the length to over 100 meters.

What command line applications would I use to send files/folders:
Linux to Linux
Linux to Vista basic
Vista basic to Linux
