I decided to wipe my Opensuse system and reinstall it. I just deleted
the partitions and started over. Now during every install after CD1
shows done and all the files are copied it hangs. I did it twice with
the 32 bit version and twice with the 64 bit verson. If I go back to
install and select boot installed system, it boots hda6 no problem but:
I can't log in. Root user does not work. It will not take root for a login.
I have Windows XP Media center on the other partition. I am guessingI have an acer 5101, media centre XP. It dual boots just fine with mandriva.
Windows came out with a patch that PREVENTS linux from being loaded with
a dual boot with Windows. It has to be since I have never had this
problem before; on ANY system. THis is an Acer 5100 laptop with athelon
X2 64 processor. ANy Ideas?
When you think about it, what you suppose would be impossible.
Windows can not detect ext3 partitions. so it would not know if linux were there.
Lilo can load in the MBR, which windows does not use, because it is already past that point when windows starts to load.
Windows will complain if you try to load it after a linux install is in place, and will be quite anti-social.
But if it is there first, it never knows.
Let me correct myself there. with MS nothing would be impossible.
I though it was impossible to release vista with so many function and security problems
I though it was impossible that there would be a MS linux.....
Partitions should always be removed with the same program that created them.
As I understand it, the logic there is that MS utilities do not always follow MS specifications.
My first guess would be the source media, so maybe it is time to re-burn them
CD or DVD reader working properly?
If not the above, then it sounds like the partition table is flawed, or the format of where you are copying to is flawed. What file system are use using for linux? what partitions and formatting did you use?
