1. reset to factory 'still in the box' condition of you drive c - acer
boot option
2. fdisk /mbr
3. on linux rescue disk, 'restore old (windows) mbr'

I have always used the fdisk /mbr from an old boot floppy of Win98. It has
cleaned up the mbr everytime. When you re-boot into windows, windows will
then re-write and restore mbr.
