You're right, the applications menu does offer some choices, but not
20,000.
Gnome is just up to version 2.18 - you're obviously posting from sometime in
the future, when CNR is ready for use!
The Synaptic package manager does all you ask of CNR, costs /nothing,/ and
works properly.
