Dan C., I decided to cease using leafnode after considering your point re:
direct news server and DSL connection. It's not needed in my situation. It's one
less service to have running. I set up the ~/.slrnrc to filter out the unwanted
groups. Plus, made my son's hidden .slrnrc additionally filter certain key
words, subjects, authors, etc. that I wish to block. So, I'm no longer running
that server (a very nicely designed one tho' - leafnode that is) or additional
crontabs for more frequent pulls. Thanks for mentioning that.
I'm working on a means to filter system-wide with root owning the
file... that'll keep things clean even when he learns to circumvent
his RC file.

1) go to http://goodbye-microsoft.com
2) replace existing operating system.
