Unless I'm being discriminated against because I'm looking at that site
from outside of Oz, it appears this is just _part_ of some article.
"...Hewlett-Packard, the world<E2>??s largest PC manufacturer, has announced
it will start selling Linux-based PCs from $AU600 in Australia....."
I could ask "how much is that in real money?", but I won't. It's about
31650 Icelandic Krona ;-) The part of the page that I can see continues
================
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Desktop will come pre-loaded on the HP
dx2250 desktop computer -- an AMD-based model.
The PC itself comes with a range of AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core, Athlon
64 and Sempron processors.
"With the cost of proprietary systems continuing to rise, Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 5 Desktop minimises acquisition and ongoing deployment
costs, leaving more money and resources for other high-value projects
and tasks," said Max McLaren, General Manager at Red Hat in Australia
and New Zealand, taking a clear dig at Vista.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Desktop also comes with OpenOffice
preinstalled, Firefox for web browsing and Evolution for email .
Red Hat will also offer Level One, Level Two and Level Three technical
support for the solution. HP's announcement did not make clear whether
any free software support would be included -- we've put the question
to HP.

This isn't HP's first entry into the world of Linux. Back in August 2001,
they released a "HP Secure OS software for Linux" version 1.0 (that was
also known as HP-LX). It was based on (included) Red Hat 7.1 (which had
been released 19 weeks earlier), and added some apps like 'tripwire' and
some of the features included in SELinux. Wouldn't you know that it
hit Bugtraq twice before the end of that year with significant security
problems. To be fair, I don't recall if the problems were part of the
original RH7.1, or were in the HP add-ons.
