Looking for distros suitable for low-memory/low processor situations.

I am still relatively new to Linux and the myriad of distributions, so I
guess I was a bit naive in thinking that a small distribution meant a
small footprint.

SLAX was a perfect example of this. I am not totally sure if it was due
to KDE or just X Window period, but it ran sooooo slowly that I gave up
using it. However, running FluxBox on SLAX resulted in a *super* fast
distribution with low overhead. KDE applications are still painfully
slow at times though, but still much faster than X Window running KDE.

So basically I would like the opinions of known distributions which have
little to no overhead in a graphical environment.

Granted, I would love opinions on *any* distribution that used very
little memory and processing power under normal circumstances, be it
command line or GUI.

The smaller the better, but is not important. Also, if they have a
LiveCD version that would be awesome as I am currently using Linux via
Qemu.

I have tested Grafpup, Damn Small Linux, and SLAX thus far.

Grafpup - boots amazingly fast and blazes right along until it enters its
graphical stage (I forgot what it uses as a GUI server and what desktop
it runs). However, I left it running not doing anything and it continued
to spike up and down up and down. No clue why.

Damn Small Linux - ran fairly slow until I installed Kqemu. After that I
was loving it.

SLAX - using X Window it takes my mouse about 3 seconds to travel across
the screen. Like I said though FluxBox runs fast. I like SLAX the best
so far because I can add modules via an ISO editor in Windows and I do
not have to compile anything. I really should get used to installing my
own applications though.

I also plan on testing Puppy Linux when I have the time, but I have not
gotten around to it.

So, thanks for your time and if I should have posted this elsewhere, let
me know.
