Horton heard a Who named beowulf@xxxxxxxxxxx saying:
I am trying to install Ubuntu 7.04 to a friend's PC, same PC as mine. Well, on<snip>
my PC linux runs great-- WinXP on hda, Ubuntu 7.04 on hdb, with data on four
sata drives (sata1..4).
Googling on this reveals we are not alone, that others have traveled this road<snip>
from hell (linux onto sata systems) without success.
Mr. B, you haven't said how you're trying to install GRUB. Ran into
a problem like yours with Ubuntu 7.04 and my new, shiny SATA:
*mistake* was on my end of things; I set GRUB to sda0 but the
installer needed hda0 for GRUB. Took two install attempts to learn
that, but that's what was required for GRUB to place itself on the
correct MBR. BTW, I *never* dual boot for all I _ever_ use is Linux,
therefore, you'll need to test my suggestion and adapt to your
situation.

The only way to make Windows "secure":
1) go to http://goodbye-microsoft.com
2) replace existing operating system.
