[OT] on the matter of bloat

Have to send my time card in via email in the form of a spread***
- in MS XLS format, of course. I use OOo to edit and manage the
native MS spread***. Today I saved the exact same document in OOo
ODS format to compare file size. Here's what I saw:

-rw-r--r-- 1 cmo cmo 20526 2007-09-29 09:50 070928-071004.ods
-rw-r--r-- 1 cmo cmo 132608 2007-09-29 09:39 070928-071004.xls

The OpenOffice file is 20KB and MS XlS is 132KB ! Imagine how much drive space
is being wasted world-wide and Net bandwidth due to MS bloat! This singular file
size difference is more than a 6:1 ratio.

If ever I elect to have my own business, *nothing* MS will be
permitted!
