The same can be said for brain surgery.

Of course not. If you think so go an try and see how long 'till jail
time :)

No... Running Linux is not difficult. Finding good, complete documentation
is.

Depends on what.

On top of that, it's impossible to RTFM when you don't know the actual
command that you need to run. Something as simple as "df" is impossible to
find without relying on someone else. Finding free disk space is easy in
Windows, even for a total n00b.

Ok, I'll bite:

WOO!

Second link mentions the man pages for df :)

Not even mentioning the GUI tools (konqueror allows you a right
click->properties on a device in Storage media).

Huh, I should better get that Nobel prize since I'm so smart :)

On the other hand, what's the most common fix for windows? Reinstall.
How many people can reinstall windows on their own? Less than one
percent of computer users.

Uhm... I know more people who fix Linux with a reinstall than Windows.

Sure, the windows users who are linux users wannabies :) We're not
speaking about ignorant users, we're speaking about things that can and
cannot be done.

Screw the registry? Reinstall. Erase the /etc dir? A moment of work, the
system is nowhere near critical status that needs reinstalling.

I
guess you're just illiterate and don't know how to use Windows. Pot, kettle,
black.

You know, I would really like to know how you came to that conclusion :)
Particularly the train of thought thing :)

I have the same number of Windows PC's and Linux. I'd love to switch
everything over to Linux but I need to be compatible with the office. The
wife needs something that she can use and she's not willing to spend days
trying to get simple tasks to work.

Are we trying to change the subject? :) I couldn't care less about
office compatibility - I tell clients to use ISO standard for office
files (ODF).

Yes, my clients comply ... they have to >:) I'm not telling them to go
and spend money, OO.org is free.

"Better" is in the eyes of the beholder.

Cut the crap. Better is in the light of stability, flexibility,
configurability... when it comes to OS.

Bottom line is that Linux and Windows are both tools and both have their
place.

Sure.
