When you said, "Screw the registry? Reinstall." This is exactly what I'd
expect a WINDOWS user to do.
That's what he was talking about. Windows "users" have to regularly
reinstall their mess of an "operating system" because it becomes corrupt -
even without connection to the 'net!
Why would you reinstall just because some registry entry got mashed? It's
easy to merge a backup, or even to just edit the offending entries.
Most /point,/ /click/ /and/ /drool/ Windows "users" wouldn't know how to,
and if you let them get loose in the Registry, it could be /really/ funny!
Funny... I fix my customers issues, not tell them that they're idiots.
Are they all using Windows? Then they /are/ all idiots by definition. It
is _no_ _longer_ _possible_ to run business systems safely on Windows. It
is too insecure and unreliable for serious business use. Productivity in a
Windows office is /much/ lower than in one using a modern Linux distro.
Downtime in a Windows environment is huge - "the computer's broken!". A
Linux business environment can be run with /zero/ downtime!
Run along now and update your virus definitions or whatever and have a few
reboots. We won't miss you!
