What car would be the best for a new car driver?
It's so much about taste, so it's really impossible to give you an
objective answer, those who will say X or Y will be subjective when they
say which one to use.
The best is really if you try them both and feel which one fits you
best, it could also turn out that if you tried a third distribution, you
may like that one even more.
As EOS pointed out, not everything works natively in a 64bit environment
(that is even more true for microsoft), there are different ways to come
around that, one is to use a 32bit distribution, use chroot-method (this
one isn't popular, as you double everything and you need to lower the
security if you have a multi user environment) or multilib (you have a
copy of the 32bit libraries and the 32bit applications that you use).
The advantage with the 64bit environment is when you use heavy
calculations, a web browser in a 64bit environment ain't any faster than
a 32bit version.
Can I install linux (dual boot) while Vista is already installed?
Most distribution do handle dual boot setups, I do advice you re-slice
your hard drive before you install Linux, gparted is a free tool you
could use for this.
You know there are upgrades for microsoft, so that you don't have to run
that lagish vista but a bit better xp?
