what I want to use my computer for is for multimedia work, some game
playing, ripping dvds which I am probably going to get an external dvd
rw drive like the plextor PX-810UF.
Why this particular choice for a DVD burner?
here is a list of the hardware I want to get
Harddrive: Seagate something small like 80gbs I have a lacie external
harddrive which I use to store my stuff so the harddrive is just for
apps and os(es).
For the tiny difference in price between an 80 gig and a 160 gig drive
(about $10), I'd get a 160 gig one (or larger). If you're doing
multimedia work, the extra space could come in handy, even with an
external drive.
CPU: I want to use Intel but which is the cheapest one that will work
with beryl and will be reasonably fast.
If you're doing things on the cheap, you'll probably get more bang for
the buck out of an AMD CPU.
