Something no one has pointed out, the Ubuntu family has a problem handling a
certain timer and will give you "Bios bug = 8254 timer" error message and
then stop the install. (This only occurs on one of my machines, a Gateway
referb.) In my case, I cannot (yes I have checked) upgrade my bios. I was
a long time SuSE user and have found that I really like PCLinuxOS better
than either. I had Kubuntu and PCLinuxOS installed and just liked
PCLinuxOS better. Like all Linux OS's, it is not perfect, but works very
well.
