How to mount a Freecom USB hard drive?

How do I mount a Freecom Cable II USB hard drive? (It's a slightly
older model.) I haven't found a howto or anything that specifically
covers that tiny detail, and the freecom.com site is... unhelpful.
Ditto with the manual. Searching through the Google archives of this
group (and alt.linux) don't give any useful results, nor does
searching the web.

When it's connected, it doesn't show up as /dev/sd* (I expected it to
be sdb), nor does it appear as /dev/hd* or /dev/fd* (neither of which
I expected, but it doesn't hurt to check). Fdisk -l doesn't list it.
It appears in /proc/bus/usb/devices (extract below at [1], if it
helps), and it shows up as /proc/scsi/usb-storage-1/1 (details below
at [2], if it helps), but I'll be damned if I know how to use that
info to actually mount the stupid thing.

I'm running kernel 2.4.35 (Slackware 10.1) if it matters. Yes, I *did*
enable Freecom support in the kernel. (Please don't tell me that the
solution is to move to 2.6; I've got unrelated issues there that I'm
working on, separate from this.)

I didn't know we were that close these days.
