Hi all
I am new to Linux, using Ubuntu 7.04 as suggested by a friend. I am an
old pc gamer at heart, and it seems that Linux does most things that a
windoze machine can do for me, even CR2 RAW conversion with Gimp (as
opposed to Photoshop - ref. http://www.webologist.co.uk/2007/10/bring-out-gimp-farewell-photoshop.html)
but one area lacking is Games.
Try the Gentoo family, Sabayon could be a good option, these gives you a
majority of all games for Linux.
Then there are companies who never will port games for Linux, then you can use
the different W-API-4-L like Wine, Cedega, Corssoffice, to run the games.
ID Software do release Linux versions of all their games, it seems that EA may
join the bandwagon too.
So, where are all the coders that can get the latest pc games working
on Linux? It can't be that hard, can it?
Could be for companies don't release their source code, as that is what makes
them to earn the money, would you buy a game if you could download it legally
for free?
I suggest you contact the game developers and complain that they don't make a
more portable work, so that they can with "little" effort release their games
for Linux, OSX, BSD, Solaris, ...
