Horton heard a Who named Michael Perry saying:
I'm glad you got a device that works. I definitely understand about
using Etch. Been doing debian for quite some time but recently made the
move to Ubuntu for most things.
I used Ubtunu for a year, and it's a fairly easy to use release. The
update/change cycle is to rapid for my comfort.
Have you considered trying out testing at all? Perhaps they have
support for MTP devices?
My box is used about equally for leisure and work, therefore, I
prefer Debian stable.
I read on this a bit because I bought a friend
of mine an older Creative Zen M which is going to require MTP with
gnomad it looks like.
While working out a means to solve the MTP problem in Etch I noted
libmtp is in "experimental". I could add this to sources list if I
*really* wanted:
deb http://people.debian.org/~rafael/libmtp ./
deb-src http://people.debian.org/~rafael/libmtp ./
... but I don't desire to. I posted that for those who may, tho'.
I use gnomad2 for my nearly two year old Zen Xtra 40GB (non-MTP) - works
like a charm!
