Is there an advantage in using curl instead of wget??

Curl has more options when it comes to downloading and saving data from
websites, specially with GET and POST actions.
For your application it doesn't really matter.

wouldn't that matter for my application? :-)

Curl has a zillion options, just like e.g. rsync. Nice to know, but
impossible to know them all..
