problem installing ubuntu 7.10 - mouse

hello, sorry if i've missed the group... anyway i try to install ubuntu
7.10, but after i boot from cd and choose to install ubuntu it loads an
orange screen with 2 icons - examples and install.. i can't move my mouse...
i tried with another mouse, the same thing happens... what can i do??
