I have worded the question badly. My apologies, let me try again. Long
version.
I live at the end of a county dirt road. In a village of 54, until
recently I was the only DSL user on the hard copper wire phone
line. Embarq is the only phone - IP provide available on this street.
Not too long ago the dirt road was extended and 50 new lots were
sold. The local renaissance festival usually brings about 3000 people
into the area to work and most camp on our street on land provide
by the locals. A lot winter over here.
My neighbor across the street has opted to provide a free WIFI
service to everyone and has started putting boosters up down the
lenght of the street.
I wanted to check how heavy the load was on the system. Not my mail
and not read others mail. Things more like percentage of bandwidth in
use. Number of packets coming through. Things that could bog down or
hinder connecting to the Internet.
Connecting to the Internet seems to be a problem since the expansion
last fall. This is part of my search for a solution.
TIA
