Hi Again
As for my missing emacs it seams as if emacs hasn't been ported to x86_64
machines. That's strange because I know Fedore 5 for 64 bit CPUs included an
emacs editor. Does any one have any idea how to get emacs working on my
Fedore 6 for AMD 64 duo?

Hi J.O
Just bought and installed a new network card for less than $20. Now the
network card works on Fedora 6.
Question
How do I recompile the rpm files unless I do it from a Linux session on
the machine. Does this mean that I have to do that from Fedora 8.
The install DVD for Fedora 8 includes lots of rpm files. But I think it
will be eought to use Fedora 6. I just need ot tu run a webserver that
supports php and ASP.NET. Before I upgraded the servers hardware I used
Fedora 5 for my web server.
Another question
Where can I get en emacs editor. Fedora 6 didn't come with one. How can
one maintain a Linux install wthout emacs???? (I'm used to emacs.)

Hi

The old version Fedora 6 is installed properly except that the Lan that
the
Lan driver doesn't work. The Network setup doesn't find the right driver
for
the Lan. As I read the support pages on the manufactors homepage they do
have a driver to download. The very same on that came with the mother
board
but I can't compile that one. Possibly because have version that
doesn't
allow the core to be recompiled. The install asks me to chose a driver
for
reading the disks or to chose a drive to boot from. If I chose to boot
from
the drive where the already installed Fedora is the setup fail.
To compile, you need the kernel source, kernel source ain't included in
Fedora
Core, you need to create that yourself from the source-rpm or just
doenload a
new source from kernel.org.
I would recommend you update the kernel, newer kernels include support
for
newer hardware.
