You get the package.src.rpm file and run
rpmbuild -ba package.src.rpm
The install DVD for Fedora 8 includes lots of rpm files. But I think it
will
be eought to use Fedora 6.
RPMs for FC8 ain't compatible with FC6, you will need to modify the spec
file
so that the source will compile against FC6 instead of FC8, this may
require
other patches than the default ones.
I just need ot tu run a webserver that supports php
Apache that comes with FC6 can be run with PHP, just install both.
I will do as I usually do. Download Apache and PHP from their homepages.
It's not hard to recompile and intsall the program.
BTW I will also install MySQL.
and ASP.NET. Before I upgraded the servers hardware I used Fedora 5 for
my web server.
By default FC don't supply such files, you need to get 3rd party RPMs for
FC6.
Goto www.mono-project.com it seams as they have the files needed. It's not
an rpm file its the usual source that you recompile as with Apache, PHP and
MySQL.
Another question
Where can I get en emacs editor. Fedora 6 didn't come with one. How can
one
maintain a Linux install wthout emacs???? (I'm used to emacs.)
Emacs is part of FC6, look for emacs-21.4-17.<arch>.rpm on your install
media
(change <arch> to the architecture you are using), I advice you then
upgrade
it to the latest official package, emacs-21.4-17.3.fc6 (also check
fedoralegacy.org for later versions).
Emacs is up and running again. I found a version of emacs that didn't need
to be recompiled.
Thanks
