Giganews isn't fooled by an incorrect Date header
because they add their own. Your post for instance,
has,
NNTP-Posting-Date: Thu, 13 Mar 2008 16:06:16 -0500

months and months and one would
get sick of seeing it and having to try and find the line where "the
real new articles begin" every time one used one's newsreader in that
particluar newsgroup.

Huh? Hit 'd' and you'll never see it again.
Or in Pan, you'd right click and "Mark Article as
Read" Is there really such a thing as a newsreader
without a comparable function?

Well I hit the delete button and I won't see the post anymore. People like
us are somewhat Usenet saavvy, I was thinking more about newbie readers
actually.

That is annoying at the very least.

Simple remedy. Get a different newsreader.

I like Xnews for Windows, just wish it weren't so quirky sometimes because
it is the closest thing to News Express that I could find. The Korean
college kid that authored News Express abandoned it and now Xnews is what
is left. I also use slrn, great for text reading, terrible for binaries.
