How do they reset the MAC address ?
If you do not provide the MAC in the nic config file, the nic's
hardware MAC will be used. If you wish to override it,
Mandriva allows you to provide the MAC in the nic's config file.
That value is passed through to the ifup scripts.
If you're right, then rc.local cannot be used, because it won't even
work at startup.
Hmmmm, define works, :) Once rc.local did get the link up it works.
Yes it does not work until then, and all other services (ntp, MTA,..)
needing the link will fail until the link comes backup. :(
If rc.local is executed after the network startup
scripts, it will delete additional routes attached to the interface. If
it is executed before, the MAC address will be reset by the network scripts.
You are right.
