You are dinking with beta, or it's at some development version prior to
a "final release" of a known-to-be "bleeding edge" Linux distribution,
and are then wondering why there's problems. Wait a few weeks for the
bleeding edge "release" and use it - that's the best advise I can offer
for your current interests.
However, if you want a stable version, get what Ubuntu is a spin off of,
get the real thing, get Debian Linux.
But as I stated, I also am having similar problems with Gutsy, which
is the current stable version.
I tried Debian for a while and I did like it but I got discouraged
when it was impossible to get my printer to run with it. And I don't
remember but there was a couple other things that just made it to
tough for me. Then I heard about Ubuntu and tried it out. I like it
enough to persevere for a while. Maybe I'll just install it without
Windows and it should be ok. But I'm not a pro with Linux yet and I
kind of hate to ditch Windows completely cause theres some things I
really nned it for.
As much as I despise that steaming lump of an OS, if you need MS, don't
ditch it.
Although your first post was long it contained nothing of what is vital
to assist you. I, we, need error messages and the like. Please, gather
messages and provide pertinent information, and I will see what I can do
to help. First, so you understand what is needed and how to provide it,
read from this point on the web page,http://catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html#beprecise, to its
conclusion, then do what is written. In all likelihood, we can answer
you if you follow the FAQ's instructions.

I just reinstall Ubuntu alone, without Windows and it still freezes at
the splash screen. Hmmmm.
Ok, I will follow your proceedure and seek your help. But right now I
must leave for work. I will dwell on this at break-time and after
work.
Thanks for your help offer.
