Downloaded Kubuntu 8.04Beta and ran, looks good, especially KDE 4.
However, I cannot use it and neither can a large number of folks. Why?

Because it is a Beta and still in development?

Glad you asked. The internet access tools/apps are so skimpy (like all
too many distros) that I cannot access the internet.

What did the developers say when you asked about this issue in the
ubuntu-qa mailing list or #ubuntu-testing on freenode (IRC))?

What's the Launchpad bug report number?

Please tell me you're not ignoring the appropriate feedback mechanisms
for beta testers and just ranting about it here where it serves no useful
purpose?

Er, thanks for the headsup but I'd rather read your review of the release
version. Reviewing a Beta is pointless as the system is under continuous
development and daily update.

Glad you asked about the developers.

I got on the #kubuntu channel and said essentially the same thing I said
here, their response was not what I wanted but understandable. They
said, "We are working on the desktop, you need to talk to the kernel
folks." Made sense, so I logged onto the kernel developer's channel and
explained my issue. You will never believe their response, and I
quote, "Well, run PCLinuxOS then." )Before you ask, I am not embelishing
in anyway, in fact I may have toned it down a bit.)

I thought the reply was rather, "enlightening."

So, I think I will take their advice. :-)

I did findout from the Desktop folks that the "nidswrapper" is on the CD,
just not installed. (Does that make any kind of sense?)

Thanks for asking
