Let's go back to another question I asked in my last post for a moment.
I gave this linkhttp://www.linux.com/feature/123767. What did it
yield? Additionally, what is the laptop?
Thanks again for your help. The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite
4010CDT. I looked at the link you posted, and I also checked out the
settings in Yast. They all seem to be oriented toward loading modules
at boot time. I don't want the module to load at boot time. In fact,
I've discovered that loading the module without the card installed in
the slot totally eliminates usability of the card until the machine is
rebooted. And, since I never boot the machine with the card
installed, having the module load at boot time is counterproductive.
Does this make sense?<snip>

What should that alias line say to get usbserial to load automatically
when the card is inserted and the above process runs?
VERY good post! I believe I have a good grasp on the matter now. Yes,
"it makes sense". I'll need some opportunity to research this as I use
Debian. Get back to you ASAP.
