I downloaded Ubuntu's latest and greatest last night and tried it just about
five minutes ago. The Live CD is now laying on my desk headed for the
trash can. Why? Simple question, simple answer. Even though Hardy Heron
recognized my wireless card (D-Link DWA 552) the wonderful and wise
developers at Ubuntu failed to either include the Atheros driver for it
(yes, it is available) OR an "ndiswrapper" application. Some "true
believer" may say, "Oh, its on the CD." Okay, so what Mensa candidate did
not load it in the tools menu and by what arcane method is one to know its
on the CD?

Folks, what is so hard about providing full internet connectivity and why do
so many distros not do it.

Even those operating systems from microsoft do lack drivers for every hardware, no matter if it's for a special mainboard chipset that 1/4 of all motherboards uses or a wireless card.
