An interview question (Maybe OT)

Hi all,

Perhaps OT here.

A friend of mine was recently asked a question about troubleshooting mail
server on Linux.

Scenario is 2 computers A and B. A is client. B is mail server. User
cannot send email to B ie. the mail server.
What troubleshooting can be done from client's side?

Is this a valid question in terms of inadequate data?
