The trolling thread was originally started as a crossposted xnay Sep 3,
got some activity, died out for a few days, and then was brought back to
life almost 2 weeks after the previous last post by the top poster sjohns,
almost 3 weeks after the initial troll.
Turn it around on them. They're trolling, so just answer with
informative, useful info that the troll's intended audience needs to
hear or would welcome. Drown the dip out with useful information.
So what if I replied to a troll? He offered me an opportunity which
I could use to educate noobs. Perfect result. :-)
Cf, /., troll central. It's their modus operandi, and /.'s still
worth looking into in spite of it. On the other hand, I do prefer
arstechnica for actual thought on the issues.
