Depends what you want to run. KDE/Gnome/Enlightenment, or fluxbox,
fvwm, ...

I'd suggest Zenwalk instead. It's a Slackware downstream too. xfce by
default. Very friendly and useful community behind it too.

Plus, if you want more control over how your Zenwalk sytem is built, just
install the Core edition, and grab the bits you need from Zenwalk's
netpkg update servers. Dependancies are checked etc. making it a
supermarket experience just picking what you want "off the shelf".

And you can still install Slackware packages, compile your own, and so
on. I'm finding it a pretty good deployment of Slackware. Not quite
perfect, but damn close. The LiveCD is pretty good too.

My only grumble is that there seems to be a drift toward using Gnome as
the default GUI instead of Xfce recently. IMO thats not an improvement. :(
