Can we use the command rsync between compressed and not compressed
data??
the data at both ends should be the same
If this can be dome, It will be nice so I can save space. Regards,
if you can compress both ends, rsync can handle gzipped data sensibly.
Bye.

Yes but I wish it it's possible to use it to rsync between ordinary
files and a copy from it which is compressed. -I will tell you my
situation so you may have any suggestions, I use rsync to backup my mail
server data, And I have a limited space on the backup server. And so I
though to find away to compress the data on the backup server. But this
way the rsync command will not be able to update the files on the backup
server because it's compressed and the source data isn't compressed.
what may be dome?
Regards,
You could compress the mail server data to temporary file(s) on the mail
server, rsync the compressed files to the backup server and then delete
the temporary file(s) on the mail server.
