With XP and up a couple clicks of the mouse and entering the
address of the ntp server changing the default time.windows.com is
all that is needed.
Where do you find that in XP.
Double click the clock in the notification area;

Click the Internet Time tab and enter the name or ip address of the
NTP server you want to sync with;
Yeah... I'm running XP Pro... there is no internet time tab. Are you
sure you aren't looking at Vista or 2003/2008?
I know what I'm using, and how to use it.
If the machine is in a domain, there won't be an internet time tab as
the domain controller handles time sync. Or the time service isn't
started.
That would explain it on this machine. Funny I've never notice an
Internet time tab on an XP machine before. Too much time dealing with
domains I suppose.
In the end it comes down to what you know and what you've learned.
After all that and whether you can believe it or not, I'm with you on
the command line issue. :) No matter whether I'm using a Mac, Linux or
Windows (no X Window polluting BSD systems) I always have a terminal or
command prompt window open. Many things are simply much easier to do by
typing commands than they are graphically.
That was my point, though I may have chosen a poor example to illustrate
it.
The command line is not your enemy.
