Hi,
Running Fedora 13 with Totem Movie Player 2.30.2. No matter what links
I followed on Google, I am just not able to play Youtube through Totem.
Moving the cursor on the Youtube vids displayed, it shows "No video
URI" and double clicking on any video gives the following pop-up
"An error occured. Could not oepn location; you might not have
permission to open the file"
As suggested at
http://linuxdesk.wordpress.com/2009/09/22/could-not-open-location-you-might-not-have-permission-to-open-the-file-totem-movie-player/
I
noticed that I do NOT have the youtube.py file.
Can anyone please suggest where can I get this file. Also, is this
file exclusively meant for Ubuntu or even FC users can use it?
Also, as suggested at

I
have all the relevant good, bad, ugly Gstreamer plugins for FC 13. Yet
I am unable to play Youtube.
Please assist on this. Thanks..

The easiest fix is change distros to something multi media oriented like
PClinuxOS, Ubuntu and its spin offs, etc. Once you gain enough
experience you can go back to Fedora and know what you need to do.
Bosco / Aho, many thanks. Funnily enough, I was on Ubuntu and faced similar problem and none of the solutions listed online were helpful even though I had updated almost all libraries and other relevant files/ software using Synaptic. Besides, the commands are bit different in Ubuntu and that pissed me off. Despite being so user friendly, I couldn't get Youtube working in Totem.
The reason I want Youtube in Totem is even though I have a 1 mbps line, many times, the vids keep on buffering and that irritates a lot. This happens even with low quality vids or even with vids that merely display pics and audio (example-- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyQ1znMc3og).
Any idea why this buffering happens so frequently? Speedtest.net shows my speed is ok.
I always felt Linux was faster than Windows. I have nearly stopped using Windows for all practical purposes but vids buffering in Linux is one problem that can't be beaten. Has Youtube intentionally slowed down the way vids can be played?
Meanwhile, I will check Gentoo and hope atleast that resolves my problem.
