Linux Security and firewalls

Hi NG,

found some book about linux security in ebay
http://cgi.ebay.at/Maximum-Linux-Security-w-CD-ROM-John-Ray-2000-/230639643493?pt=Sach_Fachb%C3%BCcher&hash=item35b331ab65#ht_500wt_927)

does it make sense to buy such a book? I have no idea about security
but i need some basic infos about firewall and other techniques using
linux. Where do i start?

Thanks,
Susan
.
