ext2 persistence question

Hi,
We're having an embedded linux system which's root partition is mounted like
/dev/root / ext2 rw,noauto 0 1
I was wondering how persistent ext2 is and how often and if we need to run
an fsck considering the system will be up 24/7/365 and have optimally no
reboots (but we might put in one per week or so - just for security
reasons). Our disk activity will be minimal, there's some syslog-ng writing
and possibly some other log file writing going on but nothing too heavy. Do
I need to worry about fsck at all?
Thank you!
Ron
