Hi all,
Another new stable sysstat release has been made available on my web site. In
this new version (5.0.2), iostat will _again_ be able to look for extended
statistics in /proc/partitions if available.
This feature was removed in sysstat 4.1.3, but too many production servers are
still using 2.2.x or 2.4.x kernels with extended stats in /proc/partitions, and
iostat must be able to display them...
Also keep in mind that this new 5.0.2 release can be used with *all* Linux
kernels, including recent cutting-edge 2.6.x ones.
sysstat 5.0.2 is available for download from my web page at:
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/sebastien.godard/
It will also be available on ibiblio's Linux archive site any day now:
ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/system/status/
116kB sysstat-5.0.2.tar.gz
94kB sysstat-5.0.2.tar.bz2
119kB sysstat-5.0.2-1.src.rpm
82kB sysstat-5.0.2-1.i386.rpm
The sysstat utilities are a collection of performance monitoring tools for
Linux. These include sar, mpstat, iostat and sa tools.
Feedback always welcomed . Send your remarks, comments, etc. at my new e-mail
address: <sysstat[at]wanadoo.fr>.

Enjoy!
Changes vs 5.0.1 are:
* iostat will _again_ look for statistics in /proc/partitions if available. So
now, iostat gets its statistics from the following sources in that order:
/proc/diskstats, sysfs, /proc/partitions and then /proc/stat.
* statistics are now read by iostat and mpstat as unsigned long instead of int
to avoid integer overflow.
* iostat should now handle properly the case when the 'weighted number of
milliseconds spent doing I/Os' (read in sysfs or /proc/{partitions,diskstats})
decreases with time.
* iostat manual page updated.
* Minor temporary file vulnerability fixed in isag command.
* README, FAQ and CREDITS files updated.
* Author's email changed.
